An unknown guy named ARJUN YADAV

Arjun Yadav. Chances that u may be knowing this guy are extremely negligible. But if u are a resident of Azad hall of residence,IIT Kharagpur you might have a chance of knowing him. Especially the second years, for reasons that happened in the beginning of thier third sem. However I don't think many 2nd years would be remembering this name. Anyways Arjun Yadav is a mess worker in Azad hall mess.
Arjun Yadav has been working here for the last 2 years maybe. His age? I don't know. I didn't dare to ask him. What if he is insulted? Strange! Well this is the way I think. But if you look at his face it won't require a degree to judge his age. He doesn't seem to be more than 15.But why am I telling all this to you? Do we even care who the hell this guy is,leave alone knowing his age? Yes. That's the question to ask. In today's world we are all so busy in our own world, that we think that everything happening is obvious. No one can stop it.Usually no thinks on these topics. People would read newspapers to know what's going around in the world? Or whether new hair is growing on Britney's newly bald head. But we don't look around and see irregularities of our society. And even if they do they are quick to suppress their feelings like me with their "CHALTA HAI" attitude. And then become busy in supposedly more obvious things, like winning the G.C for Azad hall. But i here ask 1 question which all of you,yes i am sure all, would have certainly heard it once in your life. That is--- " Is this the right age for him to work here?" The problem with all of us is that when we hear such a question,we get depressed for a minute or 2 or again say" kya kar sakte hain yaar?". But i beg all of you to think upon this. I am not someone who says that law says that 14 is the minimum age of a person to start working and all that. Matters in poor Indian homes are too poor for this law to be followed. But still. Just think. When he works in the mess in the evening ,does not cross his mind to play his neighbours children? It surely does. Since I have had the priviledge of studying all my age, I can't think of someone wanting to study. I never liked it so much. But when Arjun sees that he is working in the mess of IIT kharagpur, maybe he wants to study as well. To me it is a surprise that if he is recruited in IIT mess ie. of a government college, is it not violating the law itself? But it's better that noone in the management comes to know about it or else he would be asked to leave and this this event might also be used as a tool by the management to get media appraisal, something which we in KGP have experienced quite closely. And when he is asked to leave I don't know what the guy would do next? Maybe do something else. Maybe he has no other options. So,it is better that he remain here.
My friends, this blog of mine does not expect any revolutionary activity from you. But it expects one thing from all of you. Open your eyes. Look around. And then you shall find many Arjun Yadavs in your surroundings. In your canteen, in the small hotels around. When you do this, suddenly chances of your knowing this unknown guy called Arjun Yadav won't remain extremely negligible.

Dear Debyendu, I appreciate you for having taken an initiative in spreading a message like this. It is a shame on IITKgp for having recruited a guy of age 14 as a mess worker.
You also need to think from the guy's point of view, as to what exactly compelled him to work. Even if IITKgp removes him, he will be on his way for hunting another job.
Dont try to misunderstand me here. I am not speaking in favor of child labor either. The root cause of all this is poverty, unless you eradicate that, things like this are bound to happen.
I appreciate for your observation, but I would urge you to go a step forward and contribute something positively to eradicate such an issue. You have just presented a problem statement. perhaps, you could have added a solution from your point of view.
Anyways, good work dude... keep it up!
